Stars of World Cup
What is a world without real star power players? From Pele to Maradona to Messi, each player has left an indelible impact with his peculiar style of play. When the European great power meets South America tact and delicacy, sparks are bound to fly and we have witnessed many mouth-watering clashes with gas. Hot on the heels Jurgen Klinsmann and Sandor Kocsis of Hungary, both with 11 goals. The latest trick was scored by Gonzalo Higuain from Argentina to South Korea during the World Cup. The youngest player to score a hat-trick Pele was 17 years and 244 days. The oldest player to score a hat-trick is Tore Keller in 33 years and 159 days. Gabriel Batistuta of Argentina is the only person to score hat-tricks in two World Cups (1994 and 1998). The only player who has scored five goals in a World Cup match in Russia Oleg Salenko, a feat he achieved against Cameroon in the 1994 World Cup.
Best Young Player (for players 21 years or less) award was established in the 2006 World Cup and given to Germany’s Lukas Podolski.
